Who We Are: Upper Cervical Research Foundation

At the Upper Cervical Research Foundation, we study the link between the upper neck, spine, and optimal health. Decades of research has shown that neck problems can cause progressively significant issues with the spine, nervous system, and overall health. Yet, when a slight but measurable misalignment of the first neck vertebra (also known as the atlas or C-1) is detected and corrected with the NUCCA procedure, a return to good health and regular activity can be realized.

What We Do:

We investigate the link between a minor neck misalignment ( the Atlas Subluxation Complex) and health. Our investigations include clinical trials, patient-reported outcomes, practice-based research and physiological mechanisms. We gather this data to further our understanding of this vital healthcare procedure and to influence best clinical practices and public policies.

Where we do this:

Our research is conducted in various settings throughout the United States and Canada. We collaborate with universities, hospitals and specialists in multiple areas, such as neurology, neuroradiology, cardiology and board-certified NUCCA practitioners.

Why we do this:

To help ease human suffering! The quality of our lives is directly linked to our health. After decades of profound clinical results and radical improvement in seemingly hopeless health challenges, NUCCA care has helped countless patients regain their Lives. We are deeply committed to sustaining the future availability of this essential healthcare intervention.

How We Do This:

Over the years, with the immense support of many people, we have successfully funded and conducted some of the most important research in the chiropractic profession. Our studies of the NUCCA procedure have revealed a deeper understanding of the physiological mechanisms and optimal clinical outcomes, resulting in publications in many important international journals.

When we do this:

We have been conducting research since the founding of the UCRF in 1971. We have ongoing projects and continue to work diligently, with plans for projects extending well into the future. The health and well-being of many people depend on us to sustain our ongoing research efforts.

UCRF Research and Mentorship Scholarship for Students

If you are interested in enhancing healthcare through innovative research, the Upper Cervical Research Foundation (UCRF) invites students to consider a unique opportunity. The Student Research & Mentorship Scholarship is designed for those eager to make a significant impact in the field of upper cervical care. This scholarship provides financial assistance as well as mentorship and certification in the NUCCA protocol, aimed at supporting aspiring student researchers in chiropractic care. Exploring this scholarship could be a valuable step in your professional development and contribution to the field.

The Need for Upper Cervical Chiropractic Studies:

The benefits received by millions of chiropractic patients worldwide have been well documented over the past 100 years. However, further inquiry into chiropractic care significantly improves, enhances, and standardizes its effectiveness. For this reason, the Upper Cervical Research Foundation (UCRF), the research branch of the National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association (NUCCA), was established. Since 1971, UCRF has studied the link between the NUCCA procedure, the neck (cervical) spine, and optimal well-being.

Your support today allows the Upper Cervical Research Foundation to continue its tradition of conducting NUCCA research initiatives to improve the quality of your health care. We have annual infrastructure support requirements, and as a non-profit organization, we rely heavily upon the support of our donors. We hope you will join our important fundraising campaigns. Your core support is needed to continue funding the critical infrastructure that allows UCRF to advance the understanding and awareness of the NUCCA procedure.
